Impact of Geometrical Features on Solute Transport Behavior through Rough-Walled Rock Fractures

The solute transport in the fractured rock is dominated by a single fracture. geometric characteristics of rough-walled fractures considerably influence their behavior. According to self-affinity rough fractures, fractal model established based on fractional Brownian motion and successive random accumulation method. Navier–Stokes equation convective-dispersion are employed analyze effect dimension standard deviation aperture characteristics. results show that concentration front streamline distribution inhomogeneous, residence time (RTD) curves have obvious tailing. For larger aperture, fracture surface becomes rougher, more scattered, average flow velocity slower. As result, power function dimension, while variance skewness present negative linear correlation with dimension. exhibits linearly decreasing trend, increased function, logarithmically.
